The Digital Skills Group offers the provision of a staffing team who are trained in Digital Skills and Mental Health, providing this, helps us to support individuals as per their own needs. We can help you to feel safe and supported throughout your learning journey. The project operates in state of the art technology suite, which is situated in our main Darlington site.

Our aim is to create a therapeutic working environment; to offer individuals the opportunity to gain computer skills and digital qualifications; to help improve practical skills, confidence and as a distraction from negative thoughts. All courses take place in a socially inclusive and supportive environment, tailor made to meet the needs of the individual regardless of mental health.

Our dedicated instructors and team of highly motivated volunteers will give you step by step instruction from the very basics (for those who have never even switched on a computer) to those seeking qualifications to assist you into employment, entry onto further education courses or to help you gain online digital skills.

Whether you wish to achieve a qualification, or simply come down to learn some new skills (including learning to use your phone, tablet or laptop) the Digital Skills Group can help you to meet people and make new friends, improve your confidence and raise your self esteem.

Learn My Way:

The Learn My Way course is aimed at people with little or no knowledge of using the internet or email. Students work thorough the modules at their own pace to achieve an entry level qualification, students can pick the modules which they wish to do, they include the subject areas below:

  • Using Email
  • Staying in Touch (Social Media, Facebook, WhatsApp)
  • Online Entertainment (Streaming services, YouTube etc.)
  • Employment and Work
  • Managing your Money Online (Internet Banking, Universal Credit)
  • Starting to Use The Internet
  • Safety and Security Online (Scams, Security Settings etc.)
  • Spending Money Online (Online Shopping)
  • Working with Office Programs (Word, Spreadsheets, Presentations)
  • Managing Your Health Online (Online Health Records, Prescriptions Online etc.)
