ICT Learning Room
"Bridging the technology gap"

Ever thought of learning how to use a computer? Are you an expert but need some formal qualifications? Are you an eager learner who wants to develop new ICT skills and qualifications?

The Darlington Mind Computer Project is a fully accredited British Computer Society (BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT) grade “A” test centre which benefits from the provision of highly qualified staff and a state of the art ICT suite. Our aim is to create a therapeutic working environment and to offer individuals the opportunity to gain computer skills and highly recognised ICT qualifications which will give them confidence in their life and enhance their employment prospects. All courses take place in an inclusive and supportive environment and are tailor made to meet the needs of the individual.

Our dedicated team of instructors and volunteers are happy to help by giving step by step instructions, from the very basics (for those who have never even switched on a computer) to the more advanced skills (for those who are seeking qualifications, assistance into employment, or access to further education courses).

Whether you wish to achieve a qualification, or simply want to learn new skills, the Computer Project can help you to meet people and make new friends, improve your confidence and raise your self esteem.

Applications are welcome from people referred by Doctors, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers or any other health professionals. You can also self-refer too, so why not give us a call today?

If you are interested in accessing the Computer Project or would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We can then arrange for you to come and visit our training facilities.

Comments and Testimonials

“Doing the History group with IT has been my favourite thing I’ve done...Thank you very much!”

“I never thought I’d have a qualification, but thanks to all the help and support I’ve had, I do NOW! (Actually I’ve passed a few exams and want to do more!). Thanks, you’ve really boosted my confidence and I’ve also made some great friends in my class!”

"The courses I have been on have been enjoyable and relaxing. I am learning + it is helping me to be sociable and prevent me from being isolated. My mental illness makes me want to stay at home and hide from society, but because I enjoy being in this course here at Mind (as well as having additional support to help get me here) I am attending regularly, which helps me mentally + physically. I am learning new skills, which is a bonus."
